Queen Vic Corner – 15th January 2012

This week revolved around Pat's funeral, so nothing much-else happened. Hands up everyone who knew David was going to leg it by the end of the week?

carol Queen Vic Corner 15th January 2012I had an interesting debate on Twitter after Friday's Episode (where he sped off and left Carol lying in the road). I thought it was spineless, and typical of him (mind you, he had to get back for his next shift on Holby City so he was probably in a bit of a hurry), but a couple of my Twitter friends took an opposite view: that it was the kindest and most selfless thing he'd ever done – not taking her from her family. What do you think? Why not leave me a comment?

If Derek was my brother though, I'd definitely want to run away. I'd had a little bit of a soft spot for him … till now. We've really seen his true character come through this week, and what a nasty piece of work he is. How unbelievable was it that Max and Jack were also prepared to go and beat David up though?

shoe Queen Vic Corner 15th January 2012david Queen Vic Corner 15th January 2012It always amazes me how some Soap characters show so little disregard for their own – or other peoples' property. Derek stamping on David's phone was a disgrace. Who'd do that in real life? David didn't even bat an eyelid though.

If someone stamped on my phone I'd be hysterical, as there's no way I'd have the money to buy a new one. Derek hitting Carol was a disgrace too. Derek's playing his part really well, and is becoming thoroughly dislikeable. Pig.

Michael was right when he said he wanted to find a way of "Nailing that toilet of a man," but it transpired that he was complicit in it all. Shame on you Michael. I SO want you to become a nice guy and settle down with Janine, but it looks as if that's out the window already, doesn't it?

coff Queen Vic Corner 15th January 2012jan Queen Vic Corner 15th January 2012As for the funeral. It's what we'd have expected, but (and I'm sorry to say this), there's no way Pat would have fitted into that slim little coffin. It was more Bianca-sized. I did shed a few tears though, at Janine. It's so touching how they made up, and I love seeing her softer, more vulnerable side.

We had quite a subtle Appropriate/Inappropriate Music in the Background track this week. As David pondered whether to leave or not, #Beyond the Sea was playing on the car radio. CLICK HERE FOR LYRICS  Not a lot of laughs this week – understandably – but here's my Grins of the week:

Lauren: "I'll just climb out of the window then."

Tanya: "We're twenty feet up, Lauren."

Janine: "Group hug?"

Bianca: "Don't push it Janine."

Derek (to David): "I was just going to have my breakfast, but now I've seen your face I've come over all bilious."

Michael's comment to David about getting Derek back into prison "Quicker than he can call you Dave," was a nice quip!

bed Queen Vic Corner 15th January 2012PS Tiffany looked under Pat's drawers and found … nothing. Nothing but an envelope and a necklace. Not even a speck of dust. Amazing. In all my years as a Housekeeper I've never once seen the carpet underneath anything so clean or clutter-free, and what a strange place to find the envelope. Wouldn't Pat have put it somewhere safe? If had been stuck there all that time, it would have been really dusty.

vic Queen Vic Corner 15th January 2012PPS Why did Tanya have to put Laurel off from going shopping? She could have met Jane in the cafe for an hour or so first, then gone shopping afterwards.

PPPS Whitney. Sort yourself out girl. You're either with Fats or Tyler, ok?

PPPPS Didn't that Vicar have a look of Archie Mitchell?

PPPPPS So, we've got a new Lucy Beale? Never mind that; when's Peter coming back. I love him!

Yes, I agree with your Twitter friends, David actually did a selfless thing for once by leaving Carol behind. It was almost a completely beautiful, sweet and romantic gesture. However, he did slightly soil the moment by bolting, rather than choosing to cowboy up and explain everything to her. Not a total character reversal for David then! Now she's all heartbroken, has no idea he did it for the right reasons, or that the Faux-Corleone Brothers tried to gut him like a fish.

'Corleone brothers'. Nice one! That Derek Branning's a bit above himself, isn't he! I wonder if Carol will ever find out what really happened? Thanks for the comment Elle.
